The Ouija Board assessment of “Ghost Hunters” episode 206 (Ledge Lighthouse and Merchant’s House Museum) – Mme. Blahblatsky and the Talking Mongoose rate the entertainment value of the ghost hunt recarped in Bright Light, Big City.
TM: So. Entertainment. Was there any?
MB: I liked Thaxter Tewksbury. And Jerry Olsen’s throat-clearing ghost.
TM: I liked Pi Gardner baring her teeth at Jason when he tried to shake the stove.
TM: We’re sick of TAPS, aren’t we?
MB: I think I’ve lost the will to transcribe with Brian gone.
TM: Aw.
MB: No, really. Whenever I found myself cackling madly over a scene, Brian was usually in it. The others just make me groan.
TM: But Brian was sinking the ship. The S.S. TAPS was foundering on the rocks and about to go down!
MB: TAPS is not a ship. It’s a bunch of people in inner tubes. They are never going to discover some brave new world of paranormal truths.
TM: I’d be happy if they just discovered some ghosts. These debunkings are getting me down.
MB: They aren’t even debunkings. They’re just…
TM: Uninvestigations?
MB: Field trips.
TM: The teeny-tiny TAPS power struggles do not help. And Law and Order is so much better at re-enacting urban crime.
MB: I’d rather they faked ghosts.
TM: Yeah! At least we could get justifiably all wrought up about that. If they’re going to fake stuff, the least they could do would be to make it entertaining fake stuff.
MB: Instead of these dismal fake story lines and office meetings and analyses. Gah.
TM: So what do you want to do with this one? I’m totally meh. You can choose.
MB: I don’t care. It’s somewhere in that clump of awful below the Myrtles. I don’t know how to determine such fine gradations in boring. Except that the lighthouse and the museum were both nifty places. And I expect they are both haunted when TAPS isn’t around. So maybe the upper end of the lower end.
TM: Put it between the Mishler and the New Boston Inn and be done with it.
MB: Sure. Fine. Whatever.
